I create art merging the fantastical with the botanical, intertwined with science fiction (not limited to) sub-genres including; (bio-punk, cyberpunk, and planetary romance) encompassing a heavy elemental emphasis on magical realism; I paint alien flowers (extraterrestrial flora) and mermaids. I create paintings, and illustrations; plus comics are on the horizon.
I specialize in illustrating the unique marine and limnology "plants-and-species" that are native and live in the South Florida Coastal Marine Ecosystem (S.F.C.M.E.) and its watershed; which includes the (Florida Reef Tract); with an emphasis on the “in-shore” species. The marine wildlife aspect of my work includes the saltwater and brackish water zones and the Limnology wildlife aspect includes the freshwater ecosystems including the Everglades. Although the wildlife is my artistic focus, I do have a growing interest in illustrating "fishing culture". *My portfolio does include species outside of my concentration area.
I specialize in the botanical species found in the metropolis area known as the (South Florida Tri-County Area). This area includes the following; (native, non-native, hybrids, cultivars, and invasive) + (endangered and a few extinct) botanical species as well as the botanical wildlife such as pollinators etc, [Included in here although a completely separate kingdom are the fungi and a deep interest in lichens]. I also have a keen interest in the Passiflora and it's hybrids. I am in the process of developing (2) special projects separate from the works or areas of concentration mentioned. *My portfolio does include species outside of my concentration area.
My work on minerals is starting to merge with my interest in the science of light and color, and color theory.
In this sub-genre I specifically concentrate in illustrating botanical subjects. I abide by the traditional techniques of the botanical art scientific illustration standards and methods.
